Shopping in Birmingham Alabama

Being the woman I am, I love shopping and luckily Birmingham has some of the best shopping you will find in the Deep South. I have made my recommendations based on the areas that hotels are located so that you will know what is nearby.

Downtown Shopping - Like most big city downtowns this is predominately upscale boutique shops. It just depends on what strikes your fancy!

Hoover/ Riverchase Area Shopping- The Riverchase Galleria is among the best (and biggest) malls in the South. It is an indoor mall so it is great for those days that are hot or cold or raining. The whole Hoover area has every store you can think of but traffic is a problem which is why I prefer the Summit.

Hwy 280 Collonade/ Summit Area Shopping - The Summit is really the best shopping in Birmingham in my opinion. The only drawback is that it is an outside mall so it is not as much fun when it is raining. And the traffic is always a problem in the 280 area but it is OK at the Summit itself.

Bessemer/ Alabama Adventure Area Shopping - There really isn't much here except for the Bessemer Flea Market on weekends and that has to be your kind of shopping for it to be much fun.

Homewood/ Mountain Brook Area Shopping - Downtown Homewood's Main Street and the Mountain Brook Villages are upscale boutique heaven for those who like to do some old-fashioned window-shopping before buying!

Fultondale / Gardendale (NW) Area Shopping - I don't know much about this area yet but I will be doing my research/ shopping here shortly!

Airport / EWTN (NE) Area Shopping - Unless you are in the airport itself, there is no real shopping in this area.
