I feel perfectly comfortable recommending the following hotels to anyone visiting Birmingham for the reasons that I explain below:

Hyatt Place (3 locations):

Downtown
Hwy 280/Summit/Inverness Area
Hoover/ Galleria Mall/ Riverchase Area
It is hard to describe the outstanding quality of these hotels but they are the best value for your money in Birmingham as far as I am concerned. While a little more expensive than the average hotel, they are newly remodeled, have EXCELLENT locations, and great amenities.

You won't be disappointed!

PS: For reasons that I don't fully understand because I am not a computer expert, my Hotel Booking Tool frequently gets some really good prices on Hyatt Place Hotels.

Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa

This is the only real resort hotel in the Birmingham area. While part of Alabama's Robert Trent Golf Trail, it has a lot more amenities than just golf... such as great restaurants and bars, an outstanding spa, and a fitness center.

As you would expect for a Four Star hotel, the cost is somewhat higher than most Birmingham hotels but is VERY reasonable compared to vacation resort hotels nationwide... and as with Hyatt Place Hotels above sometimes you can get an absolutely great deal on room rates at Ross Bridge using my booking tool.

Holiday Inn Express:

Considering the quality, the amenities, and the "price point" I think that these are the most reasonably priced hotel rooms in Birmingham. However, there is one thing I don't like about them. Every hotel chain has a signature theme and the dweebs in management at the Holiday Inn Express national headquarters chose "cinnamon" as their chain's signature. That would be fine if they limited themselves to serving cinnamon rolls for breakfast... but these idiots went and gave their toiletries a cinammon-flavored scent.

So unless you want to go to your wedding, business meeting, or sporting event smelling like the "World's Largest Breakfast Pastry" you MUST bring your own soap and shampoo!

But that said, Holiday Inn Express is still a great deal for the Middle Class traveler or tourist.
